Appointment Management
Urgent advice: Urgent Medical Help
If you have a life-threatening emergency, please call 999 or go to your nearest A&E immediately.
For urgent medical advice when we are closed, please call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk.
Appointments
We are committed to ensuring you get the right care, from the right healthcare professional, at the right time.
To give you the best flexibility, we offer a range of telephone, video, and face-to-face appointments to help you manage both new health changes and long-term conditions.
Working Together for Your Health
Our clinical team is here to look after your everyday health concerns and long-term medical needs. Depending on your needs, your care may include:
- Practical advice on how you can safely manage symptoms at home.
- Treatment or procedures carried out here at the surgery.
- A referral to specialised local healthcare services.
Continuity of Care
Patients may request to see the doctor of their choice, and it is usually beneficial to see the same doctor for ongoing or long-term conditions. However, when an appointment is needed urgently, it may not always be possible to see your usual doctor.
Our Promise to You
We make every effort to run our clinics on time. However, medical emergencies do happen, and appointments may occasionally overrun. Thank you for your patience and understanding if you are kept waiting.
Urgent ('Triage') Appointments
If you have an urgent medical matter that needs attention today:
- Call the surgery: Telephone us on 01297 445777 or 01297 443399 between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon.
- Give a brief outline: Our receptionists (trained in Care Navigation) will ask you for brief details of your symptoms so they can direct you to the right clinician.
- Triage callback: If appropriate, you will be added to the triage list for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to call you back that morning.
Please ensure your phone is switched on, has a good signal, and that you are available to answer. Our clinicians cannot repeatedly attempt to call you back.
If the Nurse Practitioner cannot resolve your issue over the phone, they will arrange the next best course of action. This may include prescribing medication for you to collect or asking you to attend the surgery at short notice.
Minor Injury and Illness Service
We offer a local minor injury service.
It is a nurse-led service for minor injuries and illnesses that you cannot treat yourself. The nurses have undergone additional training in both minor Injury and Illness.
The service is available from 8.00 am to 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm every Saturday at Lyme Regis Medical Centre.
An appointment is not necessary but we would urge you to contact us beforehand on 01297 445777 or 01297 445770.

Wherever possible, please use our online booking options for routine GP appointment requests. Using online services helps keep our phone lines free for patients who need urgent medical assistance or those who are unable to access the internet.

How You Can Help Us Run Smoothly
Help us to help you and other patients by considering the following points:
- One appointment per person: Separate appointments must be booked if more than one family member needs to be seen.
- Check-in on arrival: Always inform Reception or use the self-check-in touchscreen when you arrive.
- Be prepared: Write down your symptoms or questions in advance so you don't forget them.
- Bring support: You are welcome to bring a partner, family member, or friend to your appointment.
- Check for results first: If you are visiting to discuss test results or hospital letters, please call Reception beforehand to confirm we have received them.
- Paperwork: Appointments are not always required for insurance forms or Fit Notes (sick notes). Please ask at Reception first.
- Face Masks: We no longer require all patients to wear face masks. However, we ask that you wear a face covering if you are attending the surgery with respiratory or cold symptoms to protect vulnerable patients.
Home Visits
We encourage you to come to our surgery; we have the best equipment and facilities here to treat you. You should only request a home visit if:
- You are housebound.
- You have a medical condition that stops you from travelling.
- You are genuinely too unwell to travel.
- Please note that most children can be brought safely to the surgery by car, taxi, or pushchair.
If you require a home visit, please call before 10:00 am on 01297 445777 or 01297 443399.
When you call, please provide the receptionist with:
- The patient’s name, address, date of birth, and any home entry codes.
- Your name, contact details, and relationship to the patient (if calling on behalf of someone else).
- A brief summary of the symptoms to help the doctor assess clinical urgency.
